University of Madras (UNOM) is a public research university in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the three oldest universities in India. The university is modeled after the University of London and was incorporated on 5 September 1857 by an act of the Legislative Council of India, and is regulated by the University Grants Commission of the government of India. A public petition in 1839 initiated the formation of University of Madras. The University was in 1840 with Mr. George Norton as its President, that the University Board was constituted. In 1854 after a lapse of 14 years, the Government of India formulated a systematic educational policy for India.

Madras University is the mother of almost all the old Universities of south India. The University area of jurisdiction has been confined to three districts of Tamil Nadu in recent years. This is consequent to establishment of various universities in the State and demarcation of the University territories. Madras University has been growing from strength to strength while widening its teaching and research activities.

Eligibility Criteria :

Candidates for admission to the first year of the Master of Business Administration degree course in the Institute of Correspondence Education shall be required to have a pass in any branch of study of a Bachelor Degree of the University of Madras or of any other University or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto and possess 2 years work experience in a Supervisory/ Executive level.
